Kendra Sunderland, aka 'Library Girl,' pleads not guilty to public indecency charge

Former Oregon State University student Kendra Sunderland, who was accused in late January of misdemeanor public indecency for exposing her genitals at the OSU library last fall, pleaded not guilty to the charge Thursday.

According to Benton County Circuit Court documents, Sunderland, 19, entered the plea before Judge Locke A. Williams with her attorney, Mark Flinn, at her side.

Sunderland, whose last known address was in Salem, was cited January 27 by Oregon State Police Trooper Christopher Graves for public indecency, after shooting a video of herself performing a solo sex act.

According to a citation dated Feb. 17, Sunderland was conducting business on an adult webcam in the library during an evening visit to the Valley Library in October 2014.

"Ms. Sunderland stated that she knows people and sometimes herself gets pleasure from seeing the webcams," according to information attached to the citation. Sunderland told investigators that she is not sure who posted the video to the Internet.

Sunderland is listed on the university's website as having studied human development and family science when she attended the school.

Under Oregon law, a person commits the crime of public indecency "if while in, or in view of, a public place the person performs an act of sexual intercourse, an act of deviate sexual intercourse, or an act of exposing the genitals of the person with the intent of arousing the sexual desire of the person or another person."

Sunderland is scheduled to make her next court appearance at a hearing at 8:30 a.m. April 28.
